About the CRCN-NE

The Centro Regional de Ciências Nucleares do Nordeste - CRCN-NE integrates the Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear (CNEN), municipality federal linked to the Ministério da Ciência e Tecnologia.

The Center is able to contribute in areas related to the use of ionizing radiation and nuclear techniques in medicine, industry, agriculture, hydrology, environment and occupational health, as well as take stock of institutional CNEN, support for the licensing, support for the training of resources human and response to radiological emergencies.

The installation of CRCN-NE in Pernambuco means a breakthrough in investment in nuclear technology in the Northeast, within a local scenario created since the beginning of the decade of 1960. Recife is consolidated as a center of academic excellence and pole medical reference in the North / Northeast. These important aspects, combined with a privileged geographical situation of the city, were fundamental to the choice of capital pernambucana as headquarters of CRCN-NE.

Located near the campus of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), has an area of 80 thousand m² with 12 thousand m² of built area.
